DESPATCH.
Reports withdrawal of proclamations and that matters are settling down; many Chinese returning.
Mr Francis &c. acknowledges that the efforts of the medical staff may be noticed.
(Minutes.)
M. Fairfield
This despatch should be acknowledged with an expression of satisfaction that the plague has stopped. I suppose the compliments suggested at the end of the despatch should be paid.
When we hear the result of this meeting, to show appreciation of the help given by soldiers, sailors &c., it may be well to write to the War Office and Admiralty.
I understand no more papers on this subject are to be printed C.P.L 13 Oct; 161/10 Subject.
